Valentine’s Day Mantle

Happy Valentine’s Day! Or Galentine’s Day for all of my ladies out there! Ever since the Christmas decorations were packed up and put away, my house has felt a little empty.  To liven up my fireplace mantle, I added a few decor items that evoke a Valentine’s Day vibe without being too garish.  And as always, it was on a budget ($0 dollars!)

I love that Valentine’s Day falls so closely to Christmas, because they share a common color: red.  To get my Valentine’s Day mantle ready, I looked through my Christmas decor to see which items were red and white, without being too Christmassy.  I left up the wooden bead swag and a red vase from Christmas.

Another favorite tip for decorating is to cover your hardcover books with coordinating scrapbook paper.  I left the red, white, and gold paper from my Christmas decorations on the books and stacked them on the mantle.  I would love to be one of those people that have a million books in a rainbow of colors, but I’ve come to realize I don’t like a lot of unnecessary items in my home.  #mariekondo

It wouldn’t be a Mapleson Manor holiday without including a Michael Scott quote on our letter board.  I felt this one best evoked our love for The Office.

I added a few plants and thrifted brass candlesticks and the mantle is decorated for Valentine’s Day!
